I’ve been trying to make the croissants from Tartine Bread since last week (trying in that I made the dough last week and let it sit around) and I finally got around to baking them tonight.
They say to bake the croissants at 475° for half an hour, but mine started burning at ten minutes. I ended up baking at 350° for ~30 and managed to get a nice golden color.

We had hamburgers with homemade buns (of course they were homemade) the other day. The buns were good and the burgers were huge. We had some corn with a compound butter that we made with Turkish seasoning.

We went to the Adult Swim Block Party. I was bored out of my head, and then I won a hat and a beer koozie, and now I love it. Jocelyn didn’t win anything, but we both got free shirts and temporary tattoos. We also got our picture taken in Carl’s pool, but I don’t think we’ve gotten the MMS with it yet.

We finally had a nice evening at home, so we grilled some burgers last night. Nothing fancy, we just grilled the asparagus, the burgers and the onions.
As as aside, here’s a joke my girlfriend made up: What’s a ghosts favorite vegetable? Ascaragus. It’s dumb, but I really do love it.

Practicing for my advanced baking practical exam. It’s an applesauce cake that’s baked with a layer of caramelized apples (like a tarte tatin), a layer of bacon on top of that, and then another layer of applesauce cake to top it off. I iced it with chocolate buttercream, and it’s a little sweet.
